volunteer opportunities
There are many ways to support Rebuilding Together Northern Nevada. If you have a passion for ensuring safe and healthy housing for our neighbors in need, we need you! Below are a variety of volunteer (aka [Re]Builder) opportunities available. Please join us! Click on a volunteer position below to send us an email if you are interested in learning more about that position.
Main contact with the homeowner pre and post project (via phone, email and postal mail). Duties include:
- Homeowner intake interview to determine eligibility
- Communicating project expectations to the homeowner and collecting appropriate documentation
- Communicating project needs to the Home Projects Committee
- Setting appointments with homeowner for assessment visits and contractor work as needed
- Updating and closing homeowner/project record in Salesforce software as applicable
Skilled volunteer services, such as:
- Home Projects Volunteers: Volunteers with specific skills/experience that will support RTNNV Program and Project Manager with general repair projects inside the home
- E-Newsletter Volunteer: Create e-newsletters on a quarterly basis with input from Board and staff.
- Social Media Volunteer: Create posts and blog content on social media channels
- Grant Writer: Submit grant applications to secure funding as requested by the Development Committee.
General volunteer service (no specific skills required) making simple repairs inside homes or assisting the Operations Manager with skilled repairs.
- Bookkeeping volunteer (anticipate this volunteer would join the Finance Committee)
- Licensed contractor volunteers: Provide critical repairs on a volunteer basis
Multiple opportunities for administrative volunteer support on an as-needed basis, including:
- Mailings
- Data entry into the Salesforce tracking system
- Fundraising event support
- Inventory tracking
- Other duties as needed
General volunteer service (no specific skills required). Beautification volunteers will participate in group projects that involve outdoor activities. These projects take place a few times per year and include:
- Landscaping
- House painting
- General property cleanup
- General outdoor repairs
Board and committee member opportunities are available, including:
- Development Committee: Provides fund development and awareness for the organization
- Finance Committee: Oversees financial health of the organization
- Governance Committee: Oversees the overall effectiveness of programs, the Executive Director, and the governing body
- Home Projects Committee: Supports the development of repair programs, special rebuilding day projects, and program standards
- Volunteer Committee: Supports volunteer recruitment and training efforts
- Note:
- Individuals may join a committee without serving on the board;
- Individuals interested in board service will be asked to provide a brief resume or bio;
- Board members are asked to join a committee.
