What We Do, Day In and Day Out
Rebuilding Together Northern Nevada began in 2020, after a Rebuilding Day in Carson City showed what was possible and four women decided Northern Nevada should have a chapter of its own. Since then, the work has been steady and practical: grab bars, ramps, tub-to-shower conversions, flooring repairs, and fall-prevention updates that let seniors, veterans, and people living with disabilities stay in the homes they love.
As Katie put it on air, simple adjustments to a home can keep someone out of the hospital, ease the load on a caregiver, and save a family a great deal of money.
This Thursday: On October 15, 20 to 25 volunteers from all three area Lowe’s stores will come together for a Rebuild Day at the home of a 20-year veteran in Reno. Our team has already completed the interior work, including a new stove, toilet, fans, and a ramp. The Lowe’s crew will take on the exterior: clearing overgrown vegetation, painting the deck, and installing ground cover.
Rebuild Days: Teams That Show Up for Neighbors
Rebuild Days are part of a longstanding national partnership between Rebuilding Together and Lowe’s, and they are one of the best ways a local company can put its team to work for a neighbor in need. A sponsorship covers the materials, and employees spend the day on site. Volunteers tell us it is a proud moment to step back and see the finished work, and a rare chance to get to know their coworkers and the homeowner they are helping.
We are chartered for 13 counties and currently serve Washoe, Douglas, Lyon, Churchill, and Storey. The need is greater than we can meet, and every partnership helps us reach one more home.
